The unique design of ratchet buckle originated in Asia during the 1900's. The belts with ratchet buckle became popular in many European Asian countries in 1990's as primarily men's fashion belts due to the fact that it has no holes on the belts. In early 2000's, a few American retailers noticed the popularity of the belts, and brought them to America under different names such as ratchet belts, click belts, micro-adjustable belts, slide belts.
