Upright, branching stems bear alternate, blue-green, lance-shaped leaves up to five inches in length. Clouds of small daisy-like blooms are held in airy heavily branched panicles from late summer into fall providing a valuable source of nectar for migrating butterflies and other pollinators. False aster will self-seed readily in ideal conditions. Uses/Culture: Back of bedding and borders, naturalizing, wildlife, cottage and meadow gardens. Plant in full sun with evenly moist but well-draining soil for best performance. Germination requirements: Germination occurs in 1-2 weeks under warm, moist conditions.
