In the summer months the dense spreading mats of foliage become almost invisible under cover of a flush of brightly colored blooms supported by 3 inch reddish-colored stems. Needs a sunny spot as the blooms will open only in direct sunlight. Uses: Cactus and succulents gardens, rocky slopes and hillsides, edging, seaside gardens, containers, rock gardens, ground cover. Plants prefer dry, sandy, hot sites in locations with full sun. Drought tolerant and suitable for locations where salt spray is possible. Pest and disease free when planted in preferred growing conditions. Germination Requirements: Germination occurs in 1-3 weeks under warm, moist conditions. Sow direct after soil has warmed in spring, or indoors in March or April for earliest blooms.
