These have upgraded features over the older XR4x6 speakers. these have a better sensitivity rating, meaning they will sound louder than the older ones, because they are more sensitive to the amplifier that is powering it. (The amp which is built into your receiver, or an external amp). These also have an improved frequency response so that they can have a more theater-like sound.
