Plants are most often biennial and produce a lush mound of large, palmate green leaves supported by long, thick petioles in the first growing season. Blooms occur in the second or third year depending on conditions. The flowering period is simply spectacular with hundreds of rosy-pink blooms held just above the foliage. Plants are frost tender and should be over-wintered in a green house or conservatory in cooler climates. Plants usually die after flowering but will self-seed reliably in ideal conditions. Uses/Culture: Specimen or accent planting, back of beds and borders, large containers. Plant in full sun to partial shade with some protection during the hottest part of the day. Moderately moist but well-draining soil is best preferred. Germination Requirements: Germination may occur in as little as 1-3 weeks but more often is slow and erratic; some seeds may take a full year for germination.
