  • Fine sand for a beach scene or for a stable base layer underneath a path or patio. When using it as a base layer it is good first to compact the potting soil and to then wet it down.
  • Add 0.5 inch of sand and compact it level and wet the sand too. Then you are ready for either pea-gravel alone or the stepping stones with pea-gravel.
