Pearly everlasting has outstanding silvery-green, narrow, elliptic leaves that are woolly on the undersides and attractive even when not in bloom. Small, papery flowers are produced in loose terminal clusters for many weeks beginning in July. Blooms are excellent for both fresh and dried flower arrangements. Anaphalis is also a host plant for the larvae of the Painted Lady butterfly. Uses: Edging for walkways, front of sunny beds and borders, mass planting as ground cover, cottage gardens, naturalizing.
