Stephen A. Douglas ,April 23, 1813 - June 13, 1861,, notable nineteenth century United States senator and political rival of Abraham Lincoln, original unsigned 1800s Carte-de-visite photograph. Douglas lost the 1860 Presidential Election to Lincoln after previously deferring him in a senate race, notable for the famed 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates. The unsigned photograph measures approximately 2.5 x 4 inches and is in good condition with only slight expected signs of aging and rounded corners. The photograph was produced by R.W. Addis of Washington, D.C.
