Labradorite is named for the place of its discovery by Moravian missionaries in Labrador, Canada, but specimens that exhibit the full spectrum of colors like this stone are found in Finland and are known as Spectralite. Inuit legend claims that Labradorite is frozen fire that fell from the Aurora Borealis, and recognize it as a shamanic stone used to facilitate astral travel and exploration of other realms of consciousness.
