DESCRIPTION
Common Name(s): Tree houseleek Botanical Name: Aeonium Cultivar: Mixed Type: Perennial Hardiness: US zones 9-11 Light Requirements: Full sun Water Requirements: Moderate to low Bloom Color(s): Pink, rose, white, cream, yellow Bloom Period: Late winter or spring Height: 6 to 24 inches Spacing: 12 to 24 inches Seeds per packet: 20 Description: Durable and drought resistant plants form rosettes of fleshy, rounded leaves atop tall arching stems. Most aeoniums are native to the Canary Islands and prefer a temperate Mediterranean climate that is neither too hot, too cold or too dry. Mix includes both low growing varieties and taller branching types; leaves can be solid or variegated with white, yellow, red or green. Blooms consist of small, massed star-shaped blooms held above foliage on short stems from mid- to late summer. Uses: Excellent for container gardens, rocky slopes, edging for sunny beds and borders. Plant in full sun with good drainage in northern climates; partial shade is best in locations with hot summers. They are reasonably tolerant of periods of drought. Germination Requirements: Seeds are very small or dust-like; surface sow to trays indoors for best results. Germination occurs in 1-3 weeks under warm, moist conditions. Packaging: All of our seed varieties are hand packed and shipped in resealable poly bags to ensure the longest possible shelf-life for your seeds. With seed listings sold by weight, seed counts are given as an approximation. Each packet includes a detailed planting instruction card complete with a color photo of the plant or flower. For best germination results, seeds should be stored in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight until planting time.
