DOUBLE-TRIPLE - YELLOW Devil's Trumpet This is like my double-triple purple datura, only bright yellow. Beautiful bright yellow blooms against the dark foliage of the plant. Big plants, 3 ft. in a pot, 5 -8 ft. or more in the ground. Hardy in zones 9 and 10. In zones 8 and 7 great in big containers and, in the winter, brought indoors or some place where it doesn't freeze .It is well worth the effort. It blooms all summer , and the blooms stay on and open for 2 or 3 days, depending on the weather. They are so fragrant in the morning and evening. Very easy to grow. Full sun or partial shade. All parts of this plant are toxic, so don't eat them.. These are fresh seeds that I have planted myself with good germination results - but they do need warm weather and do require patience (20-30 days) for good germination..also lightly water..seeds will rot if they become too wet. These fast growing Datura (Devil's Trumpet) have very fragrant and large double-triple yellow trumpet shaped blooms about 8 - 10 inches long and 4" across! The blooms face upward and attract hummingbirds and butterflies. The blooms are replaced with interesting, thorny-looking seed pods that reach 2" in diameter and, when ready, pop open to re-seed themselves. The plant is more of a bush than a tree and reaches 6-7 feet tall. Datura is a perennial in zones 8 and up and usually lives about 4 or 5 years under good conditions. For colder climates, simply save some seeds and re-sow each spring or let the plant re-seed itself! Daturas produce several seed pods and thrive in high heat, particularly in humid areas; each plant can have multiple blooms at any given time. They are very rapid growing plants in full sun or partial shade. Daturas can be started in pots or directly in the garden after last frost; they also make a wonderful container plant on patios or decks. They are easy to transplant when small, but more difficult once established.
