1959 Roger Maris Autographed Signed Kansas City A's Baseball Hat Cap PSA DNA
DESCRIPTION
Incredible 1959 Roger Maris Early Career Autographed Kansas City A's Baseball Cap With PSA DNA COA.
While showing potential as a long ball hitter for the Cleveland Indians during his 1957 rookie season, right fielder Roger Maris' .235 batting average was cause for concern. And when Maris was 51 games into his sophomore year and batting just .225, Cleveland lost patience with the young slugger and decided to send Maris and two other players to the Kansas City Athletics for Woodie Held and Vic Power. After 2 seasons in KC, the Athletics came to a similar conclusion and shipped Maris off to the New York Yankees, where he would win back-to-back American League MVP Awards and cement his name in the record book, creating a controversy that is still debated to this day. The presented piece of baseball history is a game-used Kansas City Athletics hat, autographed by Roger Maris during his 1959 season in KC. The cap has a Wilson label in the back with size 7 stamped inside, with Maris' large blue marker signature on the bill under a marker written 3, his jersey number during the 1959 season. The hat shows good evidence of use. Comes with full Photo LOA from PSA/DNA. Also has MEARS hologram affixed. Amazing museum quality piece of baseball history that would fit in very well at the Hall Of Fame in Cooperstown.
