DESCRIPTION

The odd size is due to it being a roughout for a clarinet bell. We bought these from a supplier to the music industry. These have minor defects, but are very useful still for turning and accents. Woodworkers will find a multitude of uses for this size. (Dalbergia melanoxylon) Purplish black to dark brown with black streaks. Firm, heavy wood with exceptionally good working qualities. Cuts very smoothly and evenly, taking an excellent finish directly from the tool. Chief uses are musical instruments, ornamental inlays and turned objects such as chess pieces or pool cues. Blanks are approximately 3-11/32" x 3-11/32" at the base, 4-3/4" long. The grain is mostly straight with a fine texture Very nice to work Very hard, dense, stable wood Considered one of the best woods in the world for turning A member of the Rosewood family Due to the nature of wood movement, shrinkage and expansion are possible. Please measure each piece carefully before starting any project. Wood is a product of nature, and as such, no two pieces are alike to start with, while the same wood growing in different locales can vary greatly even though it is the exact same species. Thin Stock. The thin stock is cut to size from quality, kiln-dried stock. Dimensions are +/- 1/8" of size listed. Carving and Turning Blocks. Blocks are sawn to +/- ¼" of size listed. Plywood. Sizes are nominal. Dimensions are +/- 1/8" of size listed.
