From compact tufts of gray-green leaves rise one-inch wide cup-shaped blooms in pastel shades supported by narrow pubescent flower stalks. These first year bloomers persist in the garden for 2-3 years but are readily replaced by new seedlings each year when allowed to self-seed. Uses/Culture: Front of beds and borders, rock gardens, mass planting. Performs best in full sun and moderately moist but, sharply-drained soil. Excellent drainage is a must. Plants rarely survive the heat of the summer south of zone 6, but can be used as a self-seeding annual. Germination Requirements: Sow under thin cover indoors in January for planting out in March or direct after danger of frost has passed in spring. Germination occurs in 1-3 weeks under warm (68F), moist conditions. Grow on under slightly cooler temperatures. Packaging: All of our seed varieties are hand packed and shipped in resealable poly bags to ensure the longest possible shelf-life for your seeds. With seed listings sold by weight, seed counts are given as an approximation. Each packet includes a detailed planting instruction card complete with a color photo of the plant or flower. For best germination results, seeds should be stored in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight until planting time.
