The soft bristle-covered blooms harden with maturity and are excellent for both fresh and dried arrangements. The brilliant blue color is most intense in areas with cool summers. Uses/Culture: Mixed beds and borders, specimen planting, cut flower arrangements. Plants perform best in full sun but will tolerate some shade. Sea Holly prefers a light and well-drained soil. Germination Requirements: Germination occurs in 30-60 days following a 4-6 week period of cold stratification. Fall sow direct, to a cold frame or unheated greenhouse for germination in the spring. Germination can be slow and erratic; do not discard prematurely.
