Pysanka is a Ukrainian egg, decorated with traditional Ukrainian folk designs using a wax-resist method. The word pysanka comes from the verb pysaty, "to write", as the designs are not painted on, but written with beeswax. Pysanka is a great gift. It's a symbol of new life fresh beginning, wholesomeness. I made eggs for baby showers, bridesmaid's gifts, wedding rehearsal dinners favors, engagement party, and coming home gift. Other occasions: new grandparents, retirement, birthday, engagement, Mother's Day, wedding. Each egg can be personalized with a special date, name, occasion... THE PROCESS: Egg shell is carefully selected for the best shell shape and smoothness. I use electrical drill to empty the egg, and then I use air pump to blow yolk out. Strong shell will survive the process and one that not perfect will crack. Egg washed and oven dried with heat. Now it an art supply and no longer fresh produce product. Than its hand painted with hot beeswax, dyed, varnished and UV sprayed a few times. I pack my own orders and I have control of overseeing every step of the process.
