SMILING WORM PRODUCTS: Compressed bricks are the most economical and environmentally safe way to buy creature substrates and growing media. First we screen it to reduce fibre levels but not totally eliminate it. Fiber is very important as it helps to stop the cocopeat from compacting and as growing media it helps to circulate moisture to plant roots. We wash our cocopeat thoroughly with fresh water before drying in the hot Thai sunshine. Beware of cheap cocopeat bricks which may not have gone through this time consuming cleansing process with fresh water. Moisture content is reduced to 14% - just sufficient for the cocopeat to form a brick. Loose soils and substrates contain up to 40% moisture. (Do you really want to buy old water?). Our cocopeat is aged for 24 months before processing. In this time it has been lying in the pure southern Thailand air and has had the benefit of two monsoon seasons to naturally reduce salt levels.
