Very unique plant. Grows well in zone 9. Plant shipped bare root to save on shipping. Soil requirements 1/3 pumas 2/3 peat moss Keep constantly moist but not submerged in water. And fertilizer is toxic to them so never fertilize them. The only nutrients they need come from the bugs they eat.Never feed them animal parts they can not digest them and it will poison them. Plant grows to be about a foot across with proper care. Will produce very unique flowers that point downwards. This plant is very easy to take care of. Main thing is make sure it never runs out of water grows best if you keep its pot in a couple inches of water like in a tray or small bowl. This plant can handle freezing temperatures so long as they dont dip below 30oF. If this is expected then cover with clear plastic tarp or bring inside. Do Not Fertilize it. Let it catch its own food insects and never give it animal meat it cannot digest animal proteins or fats. This plant likes lots of sun to part shade. Due to its love of water it makes an excellent plant to put in your water garden or shallows of your pond. Plant shipping size will be around 2 inches tall. Though in winter it may be trimmed back to bulb state before shipping. Pitcher plants Venus Fly Traps and other carnivorous plants grow very slowly and have a dormant time in the winter. Each year they grow back and they will grow a little bigger.
