What exactly is BPA and why are some Field Day products still in packaging that contain BPA? BPA is used in thin linings for cans in which certain foods and beverages are packaged. Can linings are necessary to prevent or slow down the interactions between the can and its contents. As a result, the foods retain their nutrition and quality over a wide range of factors such as time, environment and handling conditions.
Currently, there is no single alternative replacement for BPA in can linings. Each food product formulation has its own set of demands. For example, acidic foods present particular challenges that differ from other types of foods.
