SANDBLASTING COMPARED TO LASER ENGRAVING: Sandblast Etching (Sand Carving) is the act of propelling fine bits of aluminum oxide or silicon carbide at a high air pressure to etch the surface of crystal or glass with the best results. An abrasive is blasted onto the surface lightly to cut right into the item. Sandblasting is deeper and more noticeable than laser with a richer, and much more dimensional presentation. Sandblasting gives the best and sharpest cut to glass or crystal. The sandblasting is done by hand in a sandblasting cabinet booth, taking a lot of time and effort, making each piece a true work of art. Laser Etching is faster and cheaper and the dimensions of the cut are not as great. Laser etching involves using a laser beam to etch the design. Machine-operated lasers are run by computer software while sandblasting is done by hand. Laser etching is not as sharp with a much more fussy appearance.
