DESCRIPTION

GOLDEN YARROW is used as an herb, as an ornamental flower in the garden, or as a cut or dried flower. The foliage is fragrant, delicate and fern-like. It adds winter interest when left standing after the plant dries and dies back in the fall. Seeds of Gold yarrow can be collected and dried for future sowing. SOWING: Direct sow the seed in fall or early spring; seed planted in the fall will remain dormant until spring. To start the seeds indoors and for breaking seed dormancy, it helps to stratify the seed by chilling the seed with a couple of tablespoons of moistened seed starting mix in a zipped up plastic bag in the refrigerator setting them in the fridge for two weeks and then taking out for one week, alternating for a period of 6 weeks. Then sow seed, seed starting mix and all just below the surface of the soil very lightly covered since the seeds need light to germinate. Plant growing lights will assist with germination. Keep the soil temperature at 65F - 75F, in bright light but out of the hottest rays of sunlight. When the seedlings grow big enough to handle safely and there is no chance of frost, transplant them 18" - 24" apart. Yarrow grows best in full sun and sandy or well - drained soil, though it does tolerate drought conditions. They do not like too much water as established plants. An occasional drink if it's very hot. Divide every 3 years. Seeds can be saved for future plantings. WHAT YOU WILL RECEIVE: a white envelope with rendering/description of flower on the front. Inside the sealed envelope, the seeds are secured in a zipped up plastic bag.
