Hops - 'Cascade' - Humulus lupulus
DESCRIPTION
This auction is for one (1) Hop - 'Cascade' - Humulus lupulus live female plant. Cascade is a variety of hop developed in the USDA breeding program and released as an American aroma variety in 1971. In addition to it's appealing flavor qualities, Cascade was developed to resist downy mildew, a common threat to hop yards. This hop variety was first used commercially in 1976 and became the signature hop for American Pale Ale. Cascade has a pleasant, flowery and spicey, citrus-like quality with slight grapefruit characteristics. The aroma is of medium strength and very distinct. This is one of the most commonly used hops in micro brewing. Cascade is often used in highly hopped West Coast ales that have a citrus-floral hop character.
