Expertly made ceramic figurines are a joy to collect and display in the home or to give as gifts. This Figurine is a wonderful reproduction of a Beagle. From the detail in the musculature to the fine application of colors for the coat, the craftsmanship is outstanding. The process of creating this Figurine is no small feat, and involves several craftsmen. First are the creation of the molds, in which the artist sculpts the dog. To achieve this, separate pieces are made for the body, head, legs, and tail. When the sculpting of each piece is complete, they are put in to separate plaster casts to form the master molds. With the master molds complete, they can then be filled with clay and allowed to dry. The parts are then taken out of the mold, assembled to make the Figurine, and then fired in the kiln by the kiln master. After firing, the glaze is carefully applied and the face and other details are painted by hand by an artist. The Figurine is then fired again to set the glaze.
