Problem: Land Rover EGR valves become blocked up with carbon deposits which effects the engines performance and power delivery.
The EGR takes exhaust gasses back through the manifold and these tend to the hot coked deposits on the manifold. For only TD5 Engines
Engines: TD5 with or without EGR cooler.
Land rover: Discovery 2 Defender
Symptoms: Rough engine running, throttle lag, loss of power, black smoke from exhaust, poor mpg and potentially stalling.
Fault Codes: You will sometimes get EGR related fault codes if the valve is fairly coked.
