Lladro Figurine, 1982 Pensive Clown #5130 with Wood Base
DESCRIPTION
In 1953 Juan, José and Vicente Lladró make their first creations inspired by an experimental vocation in a Moorish furnace built in their own home in Valencia. They continue to experiment with their sculptures while working in a tile and crockery factory. In 1955, they begin making sculptures relevant to their time period. In 1958, Demand for Lladró creations grows unexpectedly. One of the most popular clowns in the Lladro collection the Pensive Clown figurine expresses so much in the detail of the face sculpted by Jose Puche. First issued in 1982 and retired in 2000. The detail of this clown is exceptional. Perfect decorator piece, Displays well from all sides. Exceptional figurine in that it is undamaged, no chips, no cracks, no scratches to glaze. I cannot detect any crazing on this figure. Any non-perfections are from the firing/manufacturing process including glaze misses and glaze pops. Some sureface scratches to the wood base which can not be seen when the clown is resting on it. Dimensions are below. Marked and guaranteed to be original, Lladro pottery.Displays exceptionally well from all angles. Dimensions are below. H: 10", Base: 5 3/4, Width: 8 1/4"" ID1942b
