The Megalodon, meaning "Big Tooth" is an extinct species of shark that grew to lengths of 70'+. Each inch of tooth roughly represents 10' of shark length. The Megalodon lived during the Miocene Epoch, 15 million years ago until about 5 million years ago. Some studies suggest that the Megalodon had the most powerful bite of any creature that ever lived, in fact strong enough to crush an automobile, and far stronger than that of the great white shark or even the Tyrannosaurus Rex. For reasons that are still unclear, the Megalodon went extinct about 5 million years ago.
