Meta-Aramid Felt (Similar to Nomex 50' Long X 1/8" Thick X 72" Wide, 8 oz./sq yd
DESCRIPTION
This high strength, non-conducting and flame retardant material is perfect for many of your commercial and industrial needs. Most commonly known as Nomex®, It does not melt and only begins to decompose at a temperature of 700 degrees Fahrenheit, and is unaffected by most acids. Nomex® works as a flame-resistant material using three mechanisms; the fiber absorbs any incoming heat, keeping it away from the wearer. As well as the fiber swells and thickens with heat to fill gaps in the apparel that the heat would otherwise use to get to the wearer. Finally, the thickening and absorption of heat increases the fabric's insulating properties, offering further protection. It does incur some strength loss after lengthy exposure to hydrochloric, nitric and sulfuric acids. Nomex® can be used in a variety of applications whether it is for industrial, commercial, or home use. Some examples of how this product is used globally are as follows: it is used for protective apparel, interior decorating, and insulation or for more mechanical uses such as coated industrial fabrics, aerospace fabrics, hot-gas filter bags, and high temperature hoses. It is a high quality, strong material that will resist the damage of alkalis, mould and mildew. This product is 8 oz. per sq. yd. at a thickness of 1/8".
