DESCRIPTION

Giving this historic piece a chance to live another life in the palms of your hands. PlaneTags are made from actual retired aircraft fuselage, not merely stamped metal. Because PlaneTags are made from real fuselage, each PlaneTag bears the color, thickness, and wear and tear from the portion of the fuselage from which it was cut and it is therefore rare to create two identical PlaneTags. These variations and imperfections are not product flaws. They are part of the beauty of PlaneTags. As a result, you will not have an option to select the color of your PlaneTag. The images on this website are provided for reference only and should not be used as the sole basis for choosing a particular PlaneTag. In 1959 this Piasecki H-21B was servicing Texas Tower 2 off the Atlantic when mechanical problems forced the helicopter to be ditched in the ocean. All eight on board were rescued and the helicopter was successfully pulled from ocean and salvaged. The Piasecki H-21 is commonly known as the "flying banana" from the unusual tilt to accommodate the two large rotors. 163 H-21B Helicopters were produced and heavily used at the beginning of the Vietnam War. However the Piasecki was originally designed as an Arctic reduce helicopter with winterization features permitting operation at temperatures as low as -65 degrees fahrenheit. Special note: This helicopter was destined to be scrapped. It was way beyond the capabilities of restoring it. Instead of scrapping the aircraft, MotoArt was contacted as a chance for thousands of people to enjoy the H-21B with PlaneTags.
