The lid is 2 1/2" tall and can be turned upside down in the bowl for storage. The Cooker was designed so that it looks great if you choose to use it without the lid. The base glaze is a beautifully rustic light golden brown with some red on the bowl and lid as an accent. The vented knob is black. This is a handcrafted on the potters wheel piece so the touch of the potter (me) may show through as well as irregularities in the glaze. The glaze is non-toxic, microwave and dishwasher safe.
