DESCRIPTION
Bob Howsam, a successful minor league baseball owner who built the Denver Bears Stadium in the 1940s, was awarded an AFL charter franchise on August 14, 1959. Thus began the storied history of the Denver Broncos, who have been one of pro football's biggest winners since the merger of the American and National Football Leagues in 1970. The Broncos' on-the-field success is more than matched by a spectacular attendance record of sellout crowds every year since 1970. On August 5, 1967, they scored the first win ever for an AFL team against an NFL opponent with a 13-7 triumph over the Detroit Lions.
Before the 1968 season, the Denver Bears Stadium was purchased by the city and renamed Denver Mile High Stadium. In the 14-year period between 1977 and 1991, the Broncos won seven AFC Western Division titles and AFC championships in 1977, 1986, 1987 and 1989. The Broncos reached the pinnacle of the pro football world, as the team captured its first world championship with a victory over the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl XXXII. With a victory over the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl XXXIII, Denver accomplished what only five other teams had achieved - back-to-back Super Bowl championships.
Evoking the nostalgia of midcentury architectural plans, these illustrations lay out the details of some of the game's legendary fields. Each drawing is accompanied with that stadium's design specs and highlights history of the team. The completed print has an aged finish that gives the impression of a vintage document.
Framed artworks are wrapped and packed snug and securely in a box.
