The Summerland Trail takes you up and up through forest and numerous switchbacks until you break through the tree line and reach alpine meadows. If you continue just past those meadows, you will the start of the rocky moraine that will lead to Panhandle Gap and see this vista to the east: mountains, valleys, sky and clouds.
