Balsam 'Camilia Flowered Mix' Impatiens balsamina (Balsam 'Camilia Flowered Mix') This beautiful heirloom annual was a favorite with the Victorians. The colorful, exotic looking flowers bloom in a mix of rose, white, scarlet and violet. The lovely, large double blossoms re-seed freely. The mature seed pods are this plant's amazing feature, exploding when touched. An excellent choice for bedding plants, or containers. This easy to grow old-fashioned annual appears in mid summer laden with colorful rose-shaped flowers of pink, red, salmon, purple and white. Once popular in Victorian gardens this variety was referred to as a Touch-Me-Not. When ripe seed pods are touched the pods burst open and fling seeds through the air. The flowers appear along the stems among bright green leaves and grows 18 inches tall in full sun in cooler climates or full to part shade in areas with hot summers. The flowers are long lasting on the plant and are quickly replaced by new flowers. Balsam's novel show of abundant pink, rose and white rosettes along the axils up its stems got its recognition as one of the most prolific plants that has not been paid adequate attention.
