Sanvitalia Procumbens Creeping Zinnia is a low-growing, mat-forming annual that spreads 12 - 18 inches making it ideal for a summer ground cover. The trailing little plants create a profusion of 3/4 inch semi-double orange flowers with dark centers. They look like mini-sunflowers! Creeping Zinnia offers the most spectacular blooms when planted in full sun. It prefers light, sandy loam soils with good drainage. It performs the best in areas where summers are mild. The Creeping Zinnia plants are ideal for hanging baskets, all sorts of pots. These cheery little flowers consist of a deep purple/brown center surrounded by many bright yellow petals...somewhat like miniature sunflowers in appearance! The foliage is creeping and forms a mat with zinnia-like leaves...hence the name! Also known as the creeping zinnia. This plant is best in full sun and can be sown directly in the garden in mid to late May - barely cover with soil. Space plants to 30cm (1') apart when grown in the garden.
