This colorful wall map of Cook County Illinois was published in 1861 by Burhans & Vechten. It shows the old roads in the county and identifies each house and business by the owner's name. Of interest is a "map within a map" of the City of Chicago by Edward Mendel. Residences of patrons (who paid extra), are shown around the outside of the map. The reprint is made from the original on file at the Library of Congress. We have edited the original to improve the appearance. Great for genealogists and history lovers! Original size: 63" x 72".
