Deep Creek Lake Maryland: Framed Wood Map Wall Hanging
DESCRIPTION
This is a beautifully detailed, laser engraved and precision cut topographical Map of Deep Creek Lake in Garrett County, Maryland with the following interesting stats carved into it: Built: 1923 - 1925; 3,900 surface acres; Max. depth: 75 feet; 69 miles of shoreline. Our handmade classic solid wood English chestnut stained frame gives it the classic look. Interesting factoid: Deep Creek Lake is the largest inland body of water in the U.S. state of Maryland. Like all lakes in Maryland, it is man-made. The lake is home to a wide variety of freshwater fish and aquatic birds. Fishing is extremely popular on the lake, for species such as largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, and walleye. The lake is a result of the Youghiogheny Hydroelectric Company hydroelectric project on Deep Creek in the 1920s. Construction of the dam began in 1923 and was completed in 1925. The hydroelectric plant became operational at 4:00PM on May 26, 1925. The lake was purchased by the state of Maryland in 2000 from the Pennsylvania Electric Company and public access to the lake is provided by Deep Creek Lake State Park. (Not all of this information made it onto the map, we just love to read up on the lakes we design) All maps include special points of interest laser engraved into the map face and come with a beautiful blue self-adhesive Swarovski Crystal to mark your preferred location on the map. Each map is a beautiful artistic handcrafted work of art using the finest woods with special attention to every detail. Due to the natural variation in wood grain, each map will vary slightly in finish and color. Birch is our wood of preference. Once the map is cut and engraved we hand sand multiple times, assemble and clear coat them for a lustrous wood shine. We believe that this personal attention each and every item receives makes each wooden item a unique work of art. Made in the USA by American workers in an American owned business.
