A unique long and cylindrical beet gives 3 to 4 times more uniform slices than round beets. Sweet, dark red roots are 6- 8" long, 1¾" across. If you want higher yields in the same space as a standard beet, then the long, cylindrical roots of Cylindra are a perfect choice. The6-8 inch long, bulky roots provide plenty of material for canning, roasting, or boiling. Smooth skin is quite easy to clean and peel while the shape of the root makes it easy to slice. The bold, earthy flavor made it a favorite in our trials. Cylindra beets are available during the summer months, with a peak season in mid-summer. Desired for their uniform shape and size, Cylindra beets are known as "Butter Slicer" beets because of their texture and ease of slicing.
