- HEIRLOOM "CHICAGO WARTED HUBBARD" -- 20 Seeds Cucurbita maxima Winter Squash 115 days. The University of Illinois calls Hubbard squash one of the most popular kinds of winter squash to grow.
- Developed by Budlong Gardens in Chicago; introduced 1894 by Vaughan's Vegetable Seed Store in Chicago. Chicago Warted Hubbard Squash are round, with rough, warty, very hard rind.
- The rind is a dark olive-green colour, with some greyish-green stripes frequently appearing at the blossom end where there's a bit of a point, ripening to a brown coloured rind. Inside, they have finely-textured golden yellow to orange flesh with a very sweet taste.
- They weigh 10 to 16 pounds. Vigorous vines. Good for baking or pies. Stores very well; in a cool place, it will store easily to the spring.
