The German Landsknechts were the preeminent mercenaries of the Renaissance, hiring out their formidable expertise in war to whomever could pay. Not everything was glamour in the pike square and arquebusier fusillade, and some mercenaries never lived to collect their handsome pay. First Legion has created a hand painted military miniature of this soldier reaching for help, wounded in the Battle of Pavia. The Holy Roman Empire would go on to win the day, even capturing the French King. Whether or not this Landsknecht will live to see the victory is very much in question.
