'Minuteman' Hosta is a tetraploid sport of the very popular 'Francee' Hosta that is much like its' sister, 'Patriot'. 'Minuteman' features a striking color contrast of very dark green leaves with wide, gleaming white margins. It is among the showiest of hostas with its attractive, thick, lance-shaped leaves that are slightly cupped and wavy. Because the leaves are heavier and of good substance, 'Minuteman' is slug resistant. Pale lavender flowers dance above a sturdy mound of foliage midsummer on 24" scapes. Mature plant size produces mid-sized mounds 18" tall and with a 30" spread. For best results, place 'Minuteman' Hosta in moist, fertile, but well-drained soil in partial - full shade, in an area that receives the right amount of light. The leaves do need some morning sun to bring out the best coloration, but too much sun will burn the leaves. Hardiness zones 3-9.
