Handmade California Condor Totem Round Porcelain Pendant
North American largest land bird, the California condor is critically endangered, with less than 500 birds remaining. Today, conservation efforts use captive breeding and recovery programs to protect and rebuild the condor population. Condors are intermittent eaters. They can go without food for two weeks, until they again find carrion to gorge upon. With a wingspan over 9 feet, a condor can soar to heights of 15,000 feet, flying up to 55 miles per hour.

Head is bald or covered with only couple of feathers. Skin on the head of California condor can change its color and it reflects emotional state of the bird. Although California condors have huge wingspan, they fly mainly by gliding on the strong, warm air currents.
The unique making process of these porcelain pendants allows for more detail in designs than other mediums. These designs are fired into the clay at 2200 degrees, so they will not peel or wear off. Each piece is surprisingly lightweight and finished to a beautiful satin touch, and individually packaged in a box.
