Handmade Rattlesnake Totem Round Porcelain Pendant
Rattlesnakes or pit vipers have 2 highly sensitive, heat-sensing pits under their nostrils to detect warm-blooded prey. Rattlesnakes do not lay eggs like most North American snakes. They are ovoviviparous, giving birth to live young. In total darkness, a rattlesnake can see an infrared image of its prey, and it can strike its victim with deadly precision. Hunting bites contain large amounts of venom, but defensive bites are often dry bites, with little or no venom.
